Introduction

Hello all,

I just wanted to introduce myself here on the forums. I have decided to take a more social step in my recovery by asking for advice and possibly giving some as well. I won't be giving out too many personal details such as my name and town but I will be happy to share about my life. I would just prefer to remain anonymous to a certain degree.

I have been addicted to opiates for roughly 5-6 years. I started methadone maintenance about a year ago and continued to use benzos and marijuana up until about two months ago. I have stabilized my dose and have quit using ANY other substances. I am now currently looking for my first real job which has been quite a struggle.

That is a basic summary of my addiction and what is going on in my life right now. I don't live a very exciting life and have no friends at the time due to surrendering contact with everyone who used. That was every friend I had, so its now me and my 3 family members.

Anyways, I just wanted to give a brief look into my life and introduce my self here. I am hoping to gain something from this forum and maybe even be of some assistance to someone else.

Thank you,
virileagitur

Thank you.

I have watched my family struggle with addiction and have been exposed to it from birth. I knew very early on there was an issue and that I had to do something about it or I wouldn't live long.

For some reason on this website I keep getting an error when trying to load the main forum page. Is it because of the high traffic?

The site has technical issues from time time and I have received the same error message in the past.

When this happens, if you can take screen shot of the message and post it in the Technical Issues forum it might help the techs to resolve the matter.

I'm glad you decided to post.

I hope the technical problems you're having are better now. You can try deleting your cookies and click the Remember Me box when you log in. That can help.

Thanks everyone.

Unfortunately I have not been able to access certain pages yet. I have tried multiple things as well as clearing browser cookies etc.

I have been doing computer repairs and maintenance for years and I can say that I do know what I'm doing. It seems that it may be a problem with the website. Seems like the high traffic blocks some newer users out when the server load gets high. I have known other sites to do this but it is odd that I can access some pages and not others. I was also able to access the page before I signed up as well.

Weird.

I'm hoping to find a mentor/sponsor of sorts. Preferably a male, considering I never had a male role model in my life. I really just need general guidance and direction. We have no mentor programs in my area.

I'm not sure if this would be the right place to look or that maybe I should wait before I ask and become more of a part of the community.

What do you guys think?
