New here, and ready for a fresh start...

Hello there.

Being my first post I'll try and keep it short.

I have had issues with alcohol, and eating disorders (more predominantly) since I was 17. In order to escape the fear of eating, I would use alcohol to relax me, usually just in the evening, a few glasses of wine would usually do the trick. It's odd as between 17 and 20 I would try and avoid alcohol due to the calorie content and only (binge) drink about twice a month...

Over the past few years my drinking has increased significantly, to the point I have been known to have a drink in the morning just to stop myself from feeling so ill... Since December I have had a couple of periods where I have gone a week sober, and felt fantastic(!) the first couple of days I would get insomnia, night sweats, nausea etc. But I found that walking, running and going to the gym helped as it tired me out.

I can easily get through a bottle of wine a night, if not more... I know I cannot carry on like this, my life feels like Groundhog Day!

I guess the reason I'm here is for support of people who have been through similar situations.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Cassie.

Hi Welcome,
My wine drinking has gotten out of control too.
I have also been trying to lose my last 10 lbs for 2 years.... I have a sneaking suspicion it'll leave with the wine....
Nice to see you here! Best wishes in recovery!
Xoxo

Welcome. On the plus side, the movie reel is easier to break the younger you quit. You already felt what its like to feel great while being sober. Now you can act on that.
