Well, the Pac lost , but I had a victory this weekend
This weekend my partner and I went away for a nice romantic getaway...first one since I became sober. Normally, such a weekend would provide a lot of opportunities to drink...mimosas at brunch, wine and scrabble by the fire, etc.
I didn't drink! I admit the first night at dinner felt weird, but the universe was looking out for me: a super kind bartender was determined to make me the best non-alcoholic drinks possible. (My partner drinks very little, so no temptation on that front).
The great part was that as the weekend progressed it go easier. We even ended up finding out a friend had a gig in the town we were visiting and went and saw his band play. (First time sober in a bar in decades: was that an eye opener).
Great side effect was that we were able to be super active since I wasn't nursing a low grade hangover all weekend. We were up and out with the morning sun hiking, bicycling and whale watching and just enjoying the amazing Northern California coast.
This was a huge test. I'm so happy. (And yes, I'm buying myself the pair of booties I've been eyeing)

isn't it awesome? being able to fully enjoy everything the weekend has to offer? Things we never would have seen/done had we been drinking.
