So today is day seven

And I'm utterly exhausted.. Have been increasingly so this week. Admittedly I'm also on day thirteen of a clean eating plan. I find myself distancing myself from family or irritable with them because the tension fighting children and such feels like a trigger and I'm avoiding turning to the crutch in that stress. I went on a team run this morning in the cold... And til I got home and cleaned up and ate, I was so exhausted I took a two hour nap.

Typically by this time on a Saturday I have had a drink or two.. But my splurge is diet soda instead.m I know not a traditional splurge, but given the clean eating, it is indeed a splurge.

Sigh... Just sigh.

I think that's fairly usual for early recovery. Our bodies take awhile to recover.

Congratulations on Day 7.

Hey! Congratulations on day 7. I think it's fantastic that you went on a team run. What a great way to relieve stress. Taking a nap isn't a bad thing either. In early sobriety it's important to listen to your body as it readjusts it's natural rhythms. If you needed a nap, you needed a nap.m go for it, and keep going!

I've been a runner for a few years, great way to meet folks and also support great charities. Made finitely a good stress reliever.. Just blasted cold right now! Lol

Rest? I have learned when my body tells me to rest, to do it. You are accomplishing a lot right now, it takes a toll and it is ok to rest, really it is

I slept more in early recovery. Your body is healing. You're doing just fine!

Sleep is absolutely essential during these early days of recovery. Look at your exhaustion as a good thing. It's your mind and body pulling you towards a rest zone. It's not uncommon -- especially in the first few weeks of recovery -- to want to sleep, even after you've just got up. I believe that rest is an essential healing process that is transporting you from the toxic life of alcoholism into a space of clarity, wholesomeness, and peace. So don't push the physical stuff too hard, embrace the exhaustion and rest.
