Today's the Day I Embrace Sobriety.

I went on a Bender last night and feel terrible about myself.

I've been Destroying my life for years with substance abuse, and it's time to admit defeat.
I've come to realize I can't use successfully and ever be able to.

My pledge to myself with you guys as my witnesses:
I won't drink again not one drop ever.
I won't use any drugs ever.

Here's my plan:
-Hit 6 AA meetings a week for 90 days Starting tomorrow(when I feel comfortable driving)
-Go to SMART recovery 3 to 4 times a month
-Work on SMART recovery Material at home
-Meet with a Therapist 1 time a week for at least 3 months.
-Get rid of Using buddies
-Start developing a new support structure

I'll be back on here around midnight EST to check-in, I hope all of you have a great day.

Hi and welcome.
I suggest you print your plan in large font and look and adhere to it every day. It sounds good.

BE WELL

That reads like the plan of a person about to embark on a better life.

Sounds like a good plan - the execution is critical......
I would add to it this as number one, perhaps - I think it's where some of us have slipped up

Regardless of how I feel - be it a good day or bad day, circumstances or conditions I will not drink or pick up

Sounds like a good plan.

One thing I have to remember in early sobriety is that while it's important for me to set goals, the only one that truly matters at the end of the day is DO NOT DRINK. Not meeting some other goal is not an excuse to drink. I've done that many times before. "Well, I didn't make an AA meeting today or yesterday so I might as well drink and start over fresh tomorrow," my inner alcoholic voice will coo at me.

From experience. Don't try to over whelm yourself by trying to do too much. Just make a plan for a day at a time. When I was drinking my emotions were all over the place and when I made such Grand plans I felt defeated before I even started.

I think the first few days just don't drink and use and go to meetings.
Break it down to the basics.
