The feeling I have when I wake up in the morning, rested, happy, thankful.

Here are mine:
  • Sleeping much, much better
  • Reading in bed at night. Being productive and creative in the evenings, instead of being drunk
  • No hangovers
  • Feels great to stay hydrated
  • I'm almost automatically focusing much more on my health, and what I put into my body-- healthy foods
  • Better mental and emotional health-- MUCH less anxiety -- significantly fewer panic attacks -- and my depression is getting better
  • My social anxiety is improving. I used to think I "needed" alcohol to "loosen up," be more fun and sociable. But that was counter-productive. I like that I can interact with people now in a social setting without "needing" alcohol. And I can be confident that I stayed in control, without slurring my words, staying stupid things, or forgetting half the night.
  • Developing and strengthening coping skills that have become dulled by constantly turning to alcohol
  • I love that I am no longer thinking about alcohol constantly. That's one of my reasons for quitting: I want my mental energy to go elsewhere.
  • Strengthening my willpower. This feeds into other areas of my life, including work, ability to focus, and how I interact with other people. I'm becoming less impulsive and better at understanding and controlling how I react to the situations I face.
  • Increasing mindfulness and overall mental strength/ sharpness. I feel like my mental clarity is increasing exponentially every day!
  • Recovery is turning out to be an amazing journey of self-discovery and self-mastery, and it's requiring me to understand myself very, very well-- which includes my triggers and tendencies, my personality, my emotions and desires and needs.
  • And last but definitely not least..... ICE CREAM!!!! :P

Those things I was drinking over... not writing, not traveling, downsizing to the cabin in the woods... now I can actually do them

I too am so thankful to have the crippling cravings and obsessive thoughts of alcohol gone. I love that I have a new circle of friends , all in varying degrees of sobriety.
I am so grateful to be 100% present in each and every moment of my life.

Briefly? Everything Took a bit of time, but I don't miss a tiny piece of anything about drinking now.

I'm glad to be working toward what God intended all along. I used to think I was a mess. Now I'm a beautiful mess.

Mornings..................... ah, sweet.

Less anxiety for sure! I can put my eye makeup on without the hand tremors. No more daily "bathroom issues/IBS". The list grows everyday .

What do I like most ? I can actually feel, hear, see, taste, smell without the gauzy curtain of drunkenness to blur it all up into a big confused jumble
