Does any one have horrendous health anxiety. I can't get cancer off my mind

No, I don't. But I can understand that being a hypochondriac can be quite debilitating. It can also be addressed through psychological counseling.

Let me ask you, why is it that while sober you worry about your health, but when drinking you didn't mind engaging in something detrimental to your health?

I'm scared like anything of cirrhosis... or for that matter anything else I have done to permanently, fatally damage my organs.
For this reason, I am actually procrastinating about seeing a doctor

Ha. I'm convinced I have done some real brain damage. I have been putting off seeing a doctor as well. Making an appointment today.

I used to have that, yes. It was during a period when everything in my life was totally chaotic and upside down. Extreme stress. I even experienced a few migraine attacks during that time that I never had before/after.

If you are dealing with lots of external stress and uncertainty (like I did back then), it's best to find ways to handle those in a healthy way. If it's more internal anxiety, same suggestion but it likely requires different strategies. In any case, I would suggest to get some professional help if it's persistent and overwhelming. A visit to the doctor to have a physical, if for nothing else, to ease your mind. And some form of therapy perhaps, depending on the source of all this. Wish I had done that myself back in the day; unfortunately did not, and I drank through it.

Many forms of anxiety are very common in early sobriety, it'll get a lot better with time, just don't go back to drinking!

My grandmother died of cancer and so that has always weighed heavy in my mind, though I don't feel it's horrendous anxiety. But there's enough anxiety that I've considered seeking out some genetic testing. Haven't done it yet though. Don't want to spend the extra money, and not sure I'm willing to up open Pandora's box.

You can request screening if it runs in your family i have it in mine

Always best talking with a Dr Hez and going for regular screenings if asked to

Try not to panic A breathing exercise that calms panic attacks.

I think it's pretty common in early recovery- I couldn't quite believe that all those years of self abuse didn't leave something behind...

the best thing to do is get a full check up Hez- however scary that sounds, the vast majority of us have founds things were not nearly as bad as we feared

When I stopped drinking I had huge fears for my health. Some of those fears were realistic, but many weren't. I really had to sit with myself and deal with the paranoia. I find that the Serenity Prayer, so simple and yet so meaningful, saved me.
