Emdr

My therapist wants to start EMDR with me.
Anybody have experiences with it they would be willing to share.
Thanks!

I'm doing it now. I have started a few threads on it. It is working pretty well for me so far.

I did it for a couple of sessions. I found it to be soothing and somewhat settling. I'd love to do it again with a better therapist.

My sister does so with police that have been traumatized. It has produced amazing results for them.

I think ladyscribbler has done it, and someone else -- I can't remember who...

Not me, but a friend of mine had it. She had tried nearly everything else possible in therapy to process a traumatic experience from her past and apparently no success... and she claims EMDR has worked for her like magic.

I'm quite intrigued by the mechanism of it (little understood, I think) and would definitely try if I had anything to treat with it.

It was helpful for me, but I quit too soon and didn't see the full results. Listen to your therapist! Do it all the way to the end.

It takes THE EVENTS that haunt you, and makes them into some events (lower case) that happened that are over now that are just part of the fabric. It takes the steam out of the trauma.
