Grrrrrr! Stupid voices in my head...

Grocery shopping today all the displays out for the super bowl.... An unnamed beer had a nice display and I started doing the abv math in my head how many equal one real beer (reduced but not non alcoholic) slapped myself out of it quick and resigned to the non alcoholic I planned on and have been successful with. Kinda pisses me off how the mind wanders back now and again but that's how alcohol works I suppose....

Thoights are thoughts - you'll have them for a while...it's what you do with those thoughts that counts.

Personally NA beer would only feed those thoughts for me, but that's me.

Have you seen the cravings tips link?

Don't lose sight of the fact that you mastered that impulse today. That's a powerful win.

And don't get too caught up in having thoughts you don't want to have. I'm a happily married man, but sometimes I see another woman and I think what if...

Then I go home to my wife, but I'm not mad at my brain for thinking what if. I'm not always in charge of what I think, but I am always in charge of what I do.

You took charge today and followed through on your plan. WELL DONE!

I've learned to avoid the booze section altogether. Even near beer is a trigger.

The near beers are keeping me satisfied for now and I'm ok with that. My focus is staying off alcohol for now however I do not want to be on this crutch forever so my long term goal is to change the behavior of drinking.... I usually do avoid that section because of the "trigger" when I grab the near beer it's on an end cap so I just grab it as I walk past... This display was in the entrance. Just disappointed I even have it a second look as I am just happy to drink the near beer for now. I have no desire to lose focus for a temporary high. Oh well onward and upward. With the harsh winter I find it hard to want to change my routine hence the NA beers but come spring I want to get rid of those too.... I've always been a heavy drinker in the winter and not so much in the summer so I picked the worst time to quit however I wasn't going to keep drinking alcohol until spring either...

This thread helped me. I had a craving for a drink yesterday after work. It passed.

I sat in bed for a while and went through in my head what would happen if I did drink or if I didn't.

Nice Job avoiding PASSing by the beer aisle or that would have been Pass interference , resulting in an unwanted 15 beer penalty....

I'd call that beer aisle pass a Hail Mary!

Awesome Job Man!
