Made it to 10 days....

and then had wine on Sunday. Day 1 today. I didn't get drunk. I'm not hungover. Dumped out the rest last night. My husband are committed to sticking to this new way of life. I should have made a plan last night, or came on this site, but I didn't want to. I wanted to have wine and I did. I've picked myself up and dusted myself off. Thinking about AA, but I went once and really didn't like it. Thanks for all of the support.

Well, good for you for picking yourself up. I didn't like AA my first time around because it meant I had to admit I had a problem with drinking. It seemed too churchy and preachy but I've come to appreciate it.

I guess I'd think about whether you are ready to quit yet. It's kind of hard to say no when you want wine. The question becomes whether you want to say no. There are times that I've wanted wine and drank. That kept happening until I realized that I just couldn't. Now, if I feel I want a drink I tell myself no. I make myself come here even when I don't feel like posting or reading. It's a good reminder of why I stopped in the first place.

Ten days is great. Keep it going.

My exercise class instructor always tells people to give a new class three tries before they decide if it works for them. Maybe you could give AA a couple more tries? Just to see of you still don't like it?

Glad you're back on board.

Back on track tonight. Very
Moody between 6 and 7 but I've called down now. I always feel so much better once I get past tough cravings

Have you tried ice cream for the cravings? Honestly, it really does help. That was always my tough time too but once I battled through it, the rest of the night was a whole lot easier. I also made sure I did a lot of moving at that time to keep me distracted. Reading to the kids through gritted teeth. It worked. Good for you!

Glad you are back on track, Bebetter.

Can you find ways to say no to your AV ? It helps to have distractions for those times that you get overwhelmed by cravings.

It gets much easier when you have a month or so of sober time.

Hang in there.

I don't have cravings during the day at all...just the evenings. I'm super moody for about 1 hour and not very nice to my husband (he is very understanding). I always snap out of it and feel really bad after I act like that. It's almost like a child not getting to do what they want , so I pout and stomp around the house like a brat and then I get over it. When it starts I immediately consume my time with chores, reading books with my son, making tea, fake cigarette etc etc --- until it passes...
