Does this bring me joy?

I'm currently reading Marie Kondo's "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up." One of her precepts is that you should pick up each object in your house and ask of it, "Does this object bring me joy?" While it sounds like a silly question, it is surprisingly illuminating.

I also find myself asking this question of other aspects of my life. Does this person bring me joy? Does this activity? Does this use of my time? Would this drink? It is a gentle way for me to pause and reflect on what I'm doing and why I'm doing it.

Hope everyone has a great start to the week!

I like that kind of thinking, Matilda.

It seems to offer good reflection and perspective- something we need in sobriety.

Thanks for the referral; sounds like a worthwhile read.

Matilda, I think that's a good idea and a good way to live. During my drinking days, I know that I had people and things in my life that were not good for me. There were a lot of 'shoulds' in my life. It's good to get rid of those.
