How am I still alive?
Hello to everyone.
I am reaching out. Not for the first time, second time, third time, but fourth time.
I was in an accident last night due to my drinking. My vehicle flipped 5 times and it's a miracle I am alive.
I know I have a substance abuse problem and an addiction to alcohol. I am so scared right now. Scared of going back to jail for my 2nd DUI. Scared of living the rest of my life a **** up.
I know it's terrible to be thinking these things when I should be glad I am alive.
I need rehab. I have no insurance. I'm confused. Depressed. But mostly scared.

I had to reach that point too - I had to have my life threatened. I'm so sorry for what you're going through right now. You've been given a wonderful gift, and you can reclaim your life. This can be a great new beginning - you can get free.

Welcome to SR ladedah. Sounds like you're ready to quit this time round. Some great people on here mate who will give great support and advice.
You can do this, just don't pick up that first drink. It will be hard at first but it will get eaisier as the days go by.

Thank you all so much for the warm welcoming.
I have heard rehab can be expensive and I am well aware I have a lot of fines coming up. I just can't afford it.
I really am so thankful to be alive. I can't live my life like this forever. I have a family. I have a daughter that needs me.
But I KNOW I can do this- I have made it to 6 months sober before and felt so great about myself. I just am scared.
Scared of living with using/drinking..and scared I can't live life without it.
I'm not sure if I will get charged with a DUI...I guess time will tell. He concluded his report and gave me a a reckless driving ticket? .....so is that really it? Has anyone been in this situation?
This is all living proof God has never taken his hands of me.

I'm glad you are alive. I'm also glad you didn't kill someone else. I would have a hard time living with myself. I hope this wakeup call sticks for you. We are here to support you getting sober and getting on the right path.

Did the police do any testing like : blood work, breathalyzer or bloodwork. If u received medical attention they more than likely will check u out for substances. If you do get dui your state may offer free rehab under a dui inititive. Dial 211 from any phone for your state. Tell them u want to go to rehab but don't have insurance or money they may be able to give u list of inpatient and outpatient programs. Gods gotta plan 4 u...5 times!

Oh I forgot tell the 211 folks u may have a dui. They have people to talk to 24/7. U can also type 211 + the name of your state. There should be a link for substance abuse and mental health. You will get info there. I have used this service for help with all kinds of things. Every state has this service. Its not widely advertised.
