Stomach craps day five???

Anybody else experience this? It came on all of a sudden. Just cramping in lower abdomen. It comes in waves. Took pepto but not helping. Just wondering if anybody else has or had this in early days of coming off booze. Thanks!

it's good to know I'm not alone! How have you been dealing with it?

On day 5 my body was still making funny sounds internally and my digestive system was repairing the damage and i still had cramps etc

it is always wise to get checked out by a doc if concerned to rule out anything

My digestive system was in pieces after I quit, but slowly the wheels started to turn again in what I would say was normal digestive process, I was eating a lot better, more fluids etc, and eventually in a few weeks things were running smoothly!!

Any worries though, best getting checked out if things don't regulate themselves!!

If the pain is bad Standing it would be a good idea to get it checked out. If it's simply uncomfortable then maybe look at what you are eating and make sure you are well hydrated.

I'm only drinking water and tea. I'm a bit of a health nut as I'm a runner so eat good things. Just thinking it's lack of the large quantities of hard liquor.

Stomach craps???
Wish I could say something on it but I don't remember much of the physical symptoms.

But I do know the body can go through a lot of changes after large quantities of alcohol for an extended period of time are stopped. Purging out all them toxins.

The article that I found on Google that ultimately led me to Sober a Recovery was a very interesting in depth description of what chronic alcohol intake does to the digestive system. Does anyone know where that might be? I imagine that with all we've put our systems through, there is a lot of recovery that goes on with the digestive system.
I'm at 36 days and many strange aches/ twinges/ etc have almost completely gone away.

alcohol changes the pH of the entire digestive system.....makes it hard to digest some vitamins and minerals.....

our digestive system makes up most of our immune system

I was a mess for about 2 months, then things settled down.

today I can even eat spicy foods!

Next time I am in a serious meeting, i just know I am going to think of stomach craps and not be able to contain my laughter. Thanks for the unintentional laugh!

Oh and I did not have those symptoms, surprisingly.

Thanks again.

there is no discreet way of saying this other than to say that 4 or 5 days after I stopped drinking my stomach and bowels decided it was time to clear the way for a new future and they went about clearing it with gusto......

I think i'll go with that! i had really bad cramps overnight and flu-ey, achey feeling but no fever so it must be a detoxing of sorts

Sorry about your cramps, but thanks for the giggle tonight

Don't worry things will level out and become "regular"

I had a good part of a day in that first week filled with the intestinal equivalent of earthquakes and tidal waves. I think it was around day three? It's been quite awhile so my memory has faded.

That first week you see all kinds of weird stuff, hopefully you never see it again.
