Beefing up the Arsenal in the war on Alcohol
Beefing up the Arsenal in the war on Alcohol
What started out as an argument with my wife 6 days ago about quitting drinking and making promises has transformed into the longest period without alcohol since I was 18 years old. (22 years ago).
I have emptied the house of all alcoholic drinks.
Regular visits to SR (this is my 7th visit today).
I have bought the following:
4 bottles of Old Jamaica Ginger Beer (Non Alcoholic)
4 bottles of Pepsi
4 Bottles of Vimto Full Sugar
2 bottles of Indian Tonic Water
2 Bottles of Soda
2 Bottles of Lemon Ginger Beer
4 Boxes of Pomegranate Green Tea
4 Boxes of Mango & Lychee Green Tea
4 Boxes of Jasmine Green Tea
4 Boxes of Orange & Lotus Flower Green Tea
2kg of Sainsbury Gold Roast Coffee
6 x 500 Tetley Tea Bags
A notebook to write down my thoughts and feelings
Joined a gym on a binding 12 month membership.
2 hours a day meditation to achieve mindfulness.
Increase the amount I work to keep active.
For the past 5 days I have saved £42.80 by not drinking. Multiply this 52 weeks a year comes to £2250 saved a year.
I haven't struggled with a hangover and its all very positive. I feel like I have met some real friends on here "SoberWolf" and many others.
My drinking days are done with, they are in 2014 and thats all done, now I am embracing a new way of living, one that saves me money and doesn't kill me slowly and one where I feel each day I am achieving something worthwhile.

Good for you.
I will be 3 years in Feb 2015.
Now, I don't know how I had all that time to sit around and drink.
What a waste of time!
Keep going. The pink cloud might fade but thats unrealistic anyway. Believe me life and your handle on it gets better and better the longer you don't drink.
I wish you the best xx
