Great News! I'm an Alcoholic
Great news everyone! I'm an alcoholic! Yes, it was hard for me to take in at first, too, but it's true. I'm relieved. In order for 99% of my problems to go away, all I have to do is not drink alcohol. I don't have cancer or some crazy debilitating illness. I don't have to take expensive medications, drink disgusting elixirs, or do cardio for hours on end to get healthy. And no horrible or scary side effects. In fact, the side effects of sobriety include clearer skin, brighter eyes, weight loss, increased libido, improved overall health, clarity of mind, improved relationships, and even increased wealth! Just think - no more binge eating and purging, no more anxiety and panic attacks the next day, no calling off of work and feeling guilty, no more lying, sneaking, and scheming. Now that I've been diagnosed and know that all I have to do is not drink, I can concentrate on living life. I can adopt any number of hobbies, have money and shop for a new wardrobe to compliment my new sensational body, spend more quality time with family and friends, the possibilities are endless. Thank you God for all of your blessings and answers. Day one sober and looking to the future with hope and faith.
I like your attitude! For years I never even considered I was an alcoholic, just a big drinker. Even when my problems started piling up in all facets of life, I thought it was temporary and I would snap out of it. Accepting I am an alcoholic took a while, but it meant I could no longer ignore serious, potentially fatal disease.
hey LL,
good start to the journey
not to burst your bubble, but this part all I have to do is not drink alcohol. can get a bit tough after a little while, and many of us have found/find that planning how to go about that is useful.
what are your thoughts on how you'll do that? what might help you?
joining a forum and getting engaged and connected with others is a great step!

fini,
Thank you for your offer. And yes, I am definitely well aware that it isn't anywhere near as easy as that sounds. Did you catch that today is day one? It's not my first day one. I'm just trying to adopt a new outlook - to simplify a complicated issue. It's all very overwhelming. I actually posted this in remembrance to a post I had seen years earlier. I attempted to search for it today as inspiration because I had thought what a unique way to look at it! I failed to find it so I decided to write my own. Thank you for your welcome
