Day 40 Today

I'm approaching my previous record of 50 or so days and without a doubt, will be smashing that one. I have really immersed myself in getting healthy, fitness, weightlifting, etc., which I find seems to keep me on track and very much motivated. I have been a pretty avid gym guy for about 18 years now and actually think this is the only thing that kept me from turning into an every day drinker (as opposed to a heavy binge drinker). Needless to say, my fitness goals are much more attainable now that I am not miserably hungover in the gym and consuming 1000s of extra calories from booze during the week.

Anyway, just thought I would share the 40 Day milestone and thank everyone here for making this place a key part of my ongoing recovery!

Exercise is an awesome way to make yourself feel better and of course, to help you with your recovery. Congratulations on 40 days sober.

congrats on 40 days - one thing about breaking new records of short periods of time is that they seem to reset. Kind of like football seasons. Running back got 985 yards this season, maybe he'll get 1100 next season.

Sobriety is not a seasonal sport. Every day for me is a new record and I don't ever intend to start a new season. You can do it too.

Way to go Sober D !!! Man can I relate. I am sooo glad to be off the stupid insane hampster wheel of working out & tri training hard, then binge every few weeks, gain back 4-5 lbs virtually in 24-36 hours, then work my a$$ off again to lose and fit back up. I'm sure a few of my body organs are thankful too. Nice work ! MJM
