Another reason not to wait

Just got off the phone with my kid brother. His friend, a guy I've known since he was little, is dying in a hospital right now of liver failure. He is 41. A sobering reminder (in more ways than one)...

Thanks, Dee. This guy is smart and sassy with a crackerjack humor and a sweet, soft side that only a few of us lucky ones have gotten to see. He had a very successful business that he has now lost, apparently, due to his drinking. It is very sad...

Thank you all. I will pass on your thoughts and prayers to him and my brother.

Just a quick story to give you a sense of this man. My brother had a very fancy, very formal wedding. After the first dance, family members and their partners were called to the dance floor. My partner at the time (and thankfully not my partner now) was nowhere to be found: turns out he was in the bar drinking shots and having a belligerent argument with one of my brother's groomsmen. There I was, sitting at the head table by myself, feeling completely humiliated.

This man, who hates formality for formality's sake and who I had never seen dance before (or since), wordlessly came up to me and asked me to dance.

Much too young...the beast doesn't discriminate...

Prayers for his family and friends, and for peace for your brother's friend.

What a sad story, Matilda. I will keep him and his loved ones in my prayers.

The reality of his 'story' is a poignant message to us to never give in, never give up.
