Day one. Possible to continue sobriety after one night?

Threw away 201 days. The clouds didn't open up with rays of sun shining through. I basically got dizzy, eventually fell asleep, and woke up with pieces of last night being blacked out. I woke up feeling sick and still feel this way. There was no euphoria.

Is it possible for me to get back on the horse after last night and just carry on with sobriety? I really don't want to go back to the drinking lifestyle and I hear stories of one day drinking sending people away from sobriety for weeks/months/years, so I am very worried. If need be, I have some Antabuse that I am considering taking once enough time has passed. Feels like the AV is kicking in a little as well.

It definitely was NOT worth it last night.

I'm very glad you didn't enjoy it.

You know what to do.

Of course it's possible! Keep on keepin' on and don't let this slip turn into a relapse. You made a mistake but that doesn't negate your 201 days of sobriety. Learn from it and move on.

One night doesn't have to become a bender. The choice is yours.

It sounds like the easiest thing to do would be to stick with sobriety! You've had a taste of what hell drinking can be and you can use that to reaffirm your sobriety. You didn't throw those 201 days away, they were still sober days you can be proud of, and now you can go back to creating more

Leave it in the past, learn from this experience that it's no way worth it, forgive yourself, and move forward as fast as possible.

One mistake is not a "sobriety death sentence". As it's been already said - choice is all yours.

Best wishes to you!

201 days is a lot of green on the calendar … one red sucks but to make it more would not be good … I hope you make it one blip in a sea of green ..

Just makes me wonder if there is anything you can do to make sure your sober life is as glorious as possible ..

for me stopping drinking was about making my life a lot better , all alcohol did was detract from my life , loves and friendships .

Keep on

Today is today. yesterday is nothing but a memory. Hop on that horse and continue to ride into the sober sunset. Don't let one night stop you from your goal. 201 days is incredible.

Thank you for the encouragement, everyone! I appreciate it and hope you are all having a good New Year. The guilt about yesterday sunk in, but theres nothing I can really do about yesterday, and tonight, watching some TV after work with some soda and browsing SR seems much more relaxing and enjoyable then what the other cycle usually brings.

If you don't drink today, you will have been sober 202 out of the past 203 days.

If my math is correct, you went to bed sober 99.5% of the time over the last 6+ months. Not perfect, but not too shabby.

Don't spend too much time beating yourself up. Figure out what went wrong, then make a plan so that you can avoid whatever the situation was, when it comes up again in the future.
