First sober New Years
First sober New Years
First one in years since I was a kid in my teens. Turning out to be pretty darn good
I'm three months in. Who else is celebrating their first and how long have you been sober?

Hi, Arbor! This is my first sober adult New Years, too. I've been all over the map the last couple of weeks, so afraid this is only day 3 for me. I'm glad to be going into the new year with a tiny little head start, though!
Just relaxing at home alone, here. Had offers to go out for drinks and thought about tagging along and sipping seltzers but I'm not sure I'm at that point yet.
Looking forward to a better new year!

Six months sober. 32 years old. First sober new years in probably......14 years? Not having a hard time tonight surprisingly. There were a few nights around Christmas when I had 15-minute cravings that I would describe as "white hot" like a branding iron was pressed against my face. None of that tonight thankfully.
This is a first sober NYE in a long time. Funny, i just received a text from a friend that one of best friends is at a bar and he is beyond drunk. I want to laugh it off but it really is sad. I am so done with that way of life (i hope my determination doesn't change). I'm with my family and i am sober. Couldn't be happier at the moment.

Today is three months for me Arbor. I had a hangover (my LAST) when I joined SR on October 1 and my goal was to be able to wake up on January 1 with the last quarter of the year sober.....it seemed completely out of reach! Well here it is, and I got it one day at a time. Yes, some of those days felt wretched, but I can see the beauty in them now because it took them to get me here. I'm sure there'll be more bumps along the way, but next year at this time I intend to celebrate one year and three months!
Happy 2015 to you!

Congratulations to everyone on this thread!
Was my first sober NYE in probably 20 years. Feels amazing to wake up rested and sober. Finishing my coffee and reading SR, than heading out with the pups for a nice long hike!
NYE feels like the real test. I always knew, of course, that NYE was associated with alcohol, but all the displays in the stores, the references to drinking in foodie periodicals, really brought it home to me this year. The day definitely needs some refashioning and I'm thinking a new tradition that takes advantage of my sober state the next day might be in order!
