back to the routine.

Anyone else kinda looking forward to getting back to work and away from this "holiday season / booze fest"

I know I am.

I've been camping with my family since boxing day and there is just no getting away from it.

People are drinking from lunch time on, boozy camp fires each night, even opening a rubbish bin lid..... Full of empty beer bottles..... It's bloody everywhere

Having said that, at least I have a sponsor and sober friends I can call and of course the SR crew who understand too.

I don't normally vent this kind of thing, but, by golly, it helps, thanks for being there everyone.

Keep your eyes on the prize and keep sober and hope to see you all in 2015 continuing your paths.

Take care, Hawks

Absolutely. For me, work is mentally engaging. Even when I was at the heaviest drinking stage of my disease, I focused on work for the majority of the day.

Yeah, I always thought this time of year was madness even when I drank. Not keen on all the excess of food and drink.

So glad it 's pretty much all over now.

I'm definitely ready to get back to work. All this idle time has been very hard on me.

That means full work weeks... I like this working only 3.5 days a week and getting paid for the full 5.

Happy New Years Hawks! I always love your posts.

It will be kind of a relief. I didn't realize how hard the holiday season would be. I had two nights that would have broken me if I were 1% less secure in my sobriety than I am.

Any other year I would have said the infamous:

"I'll just drink over the holidays and stop after New Years Eve."

I am actually shocked I made it through. Any other year. ANY OTHER YEAR I would have did the "drink through the holidays" B.S. I am so glad I didn't. Only drinking during the holidays would have been trying to moderate and I would be going through daily withdrawals and restarting my six months of PAWS that I recently finished.

I am so glad I made it through. Feel like I can make it through anything now!

I'm ready though I've worked both weeks. Routine and the relative sanity and structure at work have been very helpful in sobriety. I don't do so well with unstructured time.

My experiences camping always involved a lot of alcohol. Well done on staying sober.

I grew up in the missouri woods. Camping was amazing for us poor people. They were some of the best times of my life. I wasn't around alcohol then though. I am glad you found a way to stay sober during all of it though.
