Is it normal
This is a stressful time of year for most everyone. There will be ups and downs. Whether it is PAWS, I don't know. Depending on the antidepressant, it sometimes take six weeks for it to be fully effective. Check with your doctor if you are concerned.
I went through periods of emotional ups and downs, struggling with urges. I reached out more, posted and read on here more. Talked more to other women I know from AA. And didn't drink. It is perfectly normal to have ups and downs in life. Hang in there.

This is a hard time of year. Tho a celebration time of year, it also brings home the feeling of loss, for those of us who have experienced losses this year.
Give the antiD a few more weeks to see if it's helping. If not, see your doctor again.
And yes, it's normal to feel up and down in early recovery.

Yes, it could be that the antidepressants are not working up to their potential yet. And, as others have said, this is an emotional time of the year. I hope you start feeling better soon.

My first month on anti-depressants, they mostly had made me tired. At the time my anxiety was quite high too -- my head was a mess. But improvements were quite noticeable within 3 months. Right now you have holiday stress, winter blues, early recovery, anti-d's not yet kicked in. That's a lot of good reasons to feel low and anxious. Give yourself time and treat yourself nicely!
I'm feeling about the same...AD for about 3 weeks and some slight improvement. The foggy brain, anxiety and dizziness I experience are related to PAWS according to my doc. He said the AD may take up to 6 weeks to start feeling a positive effect. Hang in there!

Don't forget that life can make you feel down and for years you've coped with it using alcohol. One of the hardest but ultimately best things about sobriety is you have to face your real feelings now. If you are depressed, listen to yourself, learn, make changes and be kind to yourself. Whatever you do, don't think that drinking again will help or is the answer as it isn't
AD's can increase anxiety for a lot of people in the initial phases, then things start to settle down around 6 weeks. you may want to call you Dr to see what can be done. No need to suffer, even if it's just temporary.
