Thinking about it...
I'd be lying if I told you I never thought tying one back sounded good every so often. Not surprisingly, today is one of those days. A few shots before the family dinner? Why not? Lighten the load and the mood.
The real crux is that I will never act on it, and not because I love Sobriety. I do, but like everything else, not having that numbness to calm the noise and chaos really sucks sometimes. I won't take that drink because I have a liver that no longer processes alcohol, or acetaminophen, or God knows what else, and I'm a selfish @$$hole who wants to see 34. Those few shots will literally kill me.
So, I will celebrate this Christmas Eve dinner, remember it, and live to be an @$$hole another day. Happy Safe and Sober Christmas Eve
