I messed up

Dear colleagues in arms, I'm embarrassed to say that I've messed up again. For the last two days I've been drinking, the first night 3 drinks, last night, at least six - or according to my husband, at least 6 very strong drinks. All followed, of course, by me shouting at him as if it was his fault. My daughter watching it all! I just feel so disgusted at myself. I'm so down and want to cry - and I'm not a crier!

I am determined to get back to sobriety but I know it's going to be hard as I'm the hostess for Christmas dinner for about 15 people who will bring bottles upon bottles of alcohol as an offering. I just hope I can get through it.

I'm planning on being out of the house most nights to avoid the inevitable but not sure I can do that for too long as we're actually visiting my family who we don't see more than once a year!

I'm so tired of this darn problem ruining my life.

As hostess call everyone and tell them it's an alcohol free dinner.

It doesnt have to ruin your life. Be done with it once and for all. Christmas parties and family cant dictate your health. You are stronger than that.

Sorry for your slip up. I've done it a hundred times. Especially around holidays. There's so much pressure.
I hope you can remain drink free throughout the remaining days. Just think of what happened last time and remember, it never has to happen again.
Happy sober wises to you.

I fell off and fell apart the last few days too. We're only human. But we can do it.

Welcome back Hopeful.

I see the shiny glimmerings of an AV in your post - 'gee it's gonna be hard to stay sober...it's Christmas...I'm the host'...it's not far from there to 'oh well I'll start again in January....'

You absolutely can stay sober through Xmas and New Years.

Start working on plan and building a support network.
Give yourself the best Xmas present of all

D
