Day 81 vs 80...Totally different.

Yeesh what a difference a single day can make in my thought patterns.

Yesterday i was anxious and thinking (But NOT ACTING) on drinking today.
Today i got into the office...Called my sponsor and posted on SR in the 24 commitment thread. And re-read my post last night about the thoughts/unease i was experiencing.

Guess what...It was only temporary (And I've been told that VERY thing by some AA members that I've grown to look up to trust.)
I didn't give in...I went and bought my GF a new pair of nice earrings for christmas during my lunch hour instead...In my head lunch hour was the danger zone...So i did something DIFFERENT.

A productive day at work later...And i'm ready to head home.

And yes as a reward tonight...I am going to binge watch Star Trek TNG from the start of season one...And NOPE i'm not ashamed to say that!

Stay safe and sober SR. I thank god every day for this place.

My wife and her family are a treky's... they all say there is no shame in that! Me myself, I like Star Wars- they all hate Star Wars and I am not a fan Star Trek even though I watched the heck out it when I was young...

Well done! Switching the routine around during your lunch time was brilliant.

Awesome that you resisted the temptation and as your reward, you can watch TNG. I'm a huge trekkie...have several faves from season one. My all time favorite episode is Inner Light from season 5. But there are so many good ones...always like the ones involving time travel/loops or temporal distortions.

Binge watching television series is a great way to distract the addictive voice! It allows me to be addictive, but basically non-damaging (although perhaps I don't get stuff done...); it sort of feeds my tendencies in a gentle and socially acceptable way.

My favorite lately was Orange is the New Black (great character development); I watched the whole first season in a weekend...

I found that changing daily routines really helped me through the early days. It not only helped me avoid old patterns of buying wine on my lunch break, but it got me outside, walking, and enjoying the day. Good for you!
