New Here Today

Hello everyone,
Another weekend of self abuse. Saturday was a blur. I started Sunday (today) morning with a double vodka, straight of course, just so I could feel 'normal.' And then another. Then, disgusted with myself, I poured the rest of the bottle down the drain, just like so many other weekends. And then the next weekend rolls around, and it starts all over again. I don't seem to have much control at the end of the week. But I do have a desire to get my life back.

I'm amazed--I found this site and actually registered! I'm proud that I was able to take that first step! And here's my first post.

I'm looking forward to your support. I really need it.

I too once started my day with vodka to feel normal. It's good that you realize it's not. You've taken the first step. Keep at it. You'll find a lot of people on here in similar situations and a lot of good insight. It's great you have the desire now you just have to work for it.

Good Luck!

The Plan

Hi, and thanks for the quick replies--

I'm looking to remain sober for thirty days. If all goes well, then another thirty, and so on. During the week is not an issue for me. It's the weekends. I don't know how to handle them.

Do something completely different. Go somewhere or do something that keeps you completely occupied until you start your new week. Find some people who don't drink to hang out with perhaps. There's lots more that will likely help in the long run, but that's a good start. The important thing initially would seem to be to GET THROUGH THAT FIRST WEEKEND!
