It's also known as 'black eye Friday' among the doormen in the UK too.
I'm a Street Pastor (that doesn't mean preaching the Bible at people: it means looking after people who for whatever reason can't look after themselves, giving them water, supplying flip flops (thongs) to people who are at risk of hurting themselves on high heels or stepping on broken glass, chatting to anyone who fancies a chat etc etc) and this weekend is the busiest of the year. It is the night that many people who don't drink usually over indulge (and those who usually drink at home bring it out in to the open).
On the whole it is good natured but there are more fights and people who should know better let themselves get drawn in.
It's also a night where many people who are over the limit get behind the wheel of their car.
I hope everybody stays safe tonight and those who are at risk (I haven't drunk since 5pm on Sunday but don't touch a drop when I'm 'on duty') find another way to enjoy themselves x

My Dad who has been sober for many decades calls nights like these "Amateur Night". It's the night people who don't normally drink in large quantities do so because of the holiday. Not a good night to be out period....especially when all of the amateurs are leaving the parties and driving
