This is just a rant. I have had an unresolved lower GI problem since quitting 6 months ago. Initially it got better but slowly got to where I'm nauseous all the time among other things. Last week I made a Gastro appt. and it's for Feb. 3rd. Thinking my PCP could maybe do some prelim tests before then and possibly find something, I called and they got me in yesterday. I walked 2 miles there feeling good. He listened to all my complaints, minimalized each one and sent me away with a prilosec script even after I told him I have a drawer full. So I spent all the time since then being mad. Mad at myself for not being more assertive and mad at a Doc who has only seen me twice and knows little of my medical history. Being mad got me nowhere--made me sicker. I'm on a cancellation list with the GI doc so maybe I'll get in sooner. I have PPO so I may just shop around for a sooner appt. I feel about half as bad as right before I quit (same symptoms) so It's something that just quitting did not resolve. The biggest revelation is I didn't give two ships about my health for the longest and now that I am I want everyone to snap to attention. So it is. Feeling puny but not gonna drink over it. I feel a little better. Thanks.

Things are better today. Taking prevacid and prilosec.
My MIL has had problems with her furnace and I always try to help her with that stuff but this one was over my head. She had one company, guy came out and looked for an hour, charged her $70 and said they would get back with 2 proposals--a quick fix for around 400 and a new unit for around 6,000. I did some research and yes, the part for this 20 yr. old furnace is obsolete so was kinda stumped at how to find a second opinion. My MIL recalls original contractor's name and asks other guy if he is still in business--dude says no. I googled him, called yesterday and explained everything, gave him her number--he was a super nice guy (very attentive and professional). Anyhoo, he was there at 7 am and had her furnace fixed in 10 min. (replaced a relay) including coffee and chit-chat. He said he'd mail a bill. So, we got this resolved together--her wisdom in remembering guys name and my talk with him as a contractor ( and I hate to say it but "male presence" to let him know I do know enough about the business to not let MIL get taken) and some research I did on her unit. This probably would not have been an issue with Don Wildt--best HVAC man in Franklin, Co. MO but It just came together and for that I'm grateful and feel much better. Oh, and you can believe the word is gonna spread of the other contractor faster than HSI--my MIL on the phone network and me on FB. Mr. Wildt will be getting a lot more business soon.
