Newbie to SR
Hello all...
Been lurking since Monday, stopped drinking on Sunday. I have never been a daily drinker but my binge drinking is beyond out of control. I do not think moderation is a option so I am pledging to quit altogether.
I may provide more details later on my situation, but I have not spoken to my wife since the "rock bottom" incident saturday night. I am planning to speak to her today and need lots of encouragement.
My goal is day by day...get past this weekend and the future looks better. Get past christmas and new years and the sky is the limit.
This is day 5 for me and I cannot go back to drinking, I know in my heart that I will die from binge drinking if I try to moderate.
Thanks to all the wonderful folks here at SR.

Welcome, Time4change, good to have you with us.
You've probably gathered by now that it's good to have a recovery plan, such as AA.
There are other options too:

There are 24hr and weekenders support threads too.

Thanks for the welcome and support. I am glad this forum exists.
It is really time for a change, I have been thinking about cutting back or quitting since late summer...tired of the hangovers, lost time, always planning time around alcohol, etc..
I hope this will help, I keep telling myself everyday...that quitting is the only option. I enjoy my coffee more, its a beautiful day today. Again, the weekend will be tough...Thanks again to all!!!

Welcome !!! I too was a binge drinker. Was fairly functional between binges, but was sick & tired of feeling sick & tired after the next binge, too often into black-out proportions. Came here 48 days ago, and then re-started AA a few days later. This is a great place. You (we) never have to have another "day 1" again. Good Luck to you !

Hi time 4 change
Welcome to the fam. You will encounter excellent support and advice here. I too was a binge drinker and I completely understand the blackouts HOUMJM mentioned. The only way for me is to quit completely. Maybe consider joining our December 2014 class ~ we are about the same time frame as you are . I myself starting day 12. Post often and stay close .. We are all here looking out for one another.. Taking it moment by moment. Bravo for you.

Thanks for support, I am so glad I found SR.
Talked with the wife, she is hurt deeply and I understand. There is not much to say, but I have been a A$$hole for years and yet you still loved me during all the bad times.
It is up to me to take one day at a time to get better for me, her and US. I will probably be posting a lot the next few days. I appreciate the support.
