90 hours and counting

Well, 90 hours is a guesstimate as I was so blotto on Sunday afternoon I'm not totally sure when I had my last drink.

Already my skin is better. Still feeling lethargic and headachy. Started a temp job last night which finished after 4 hours as no work (so back looking). On the way home I had to drive past two supermarkets. A little voice said 'a small bottle of wine won't hurt'. A big voice slapped me round the face, told me to not be dumb and sent me straight home alcohol free. A small victory perhaps but I felt pleased.

Sitting here I've just realised the agitation has died down too.

I've only been here a couple of days but have read so many wise words. Thank you all x

Hi Sue, driving past those supermarkets will make you stronger, but if you feel the pull, take another way. Staying sober is often about breaking old habits, so make sure you change your routine, even a little bit, at 'danger time'. Eating as soon as you get home will help as well.

This is the perfect example of...This to, shall pass.

You got a craving, you worked passed it and here you are sober.

It is hard but if you can make it past the rough stuff then you get a little stronger.

Remember any time you get a craving to drink or life is hard and drinking seems like an option, think to yourself, This to, shall pass.

I'm so glad you're feeling less anxious Sue. Once you're past this phase things should really look up and get easier.

The anxiety during withdrawal used to send me back to the bottle but once I'd gotten past four days I felt much better, more calm. It will get better.

Doing great SuePee! You may think of it as a small thing now, but as your sobriety continues over the weeks and months to come, driving past that supermarket without stopping will be a strong positive memory!

Thank you all for such lovely replies.

Sadly my little town is such a backward place every road in to town from one particular direction goes past a supermarket. BUT that is no excuse. The supermarket does not force me to but the alcohol :-D

I can't believe how positive I am feeling. From my dieting days I know how easy it is to think everything in the garden is rosy and then get thrown a curve ball BUT I'm also finding I'm having times where drinking/not drinking isn't at the forefront of my mind.

What an inspiration this site is !! (And it's now 114 hours alcohol free!!)
