1st meeting tonight.

Hello all,

I had my first meeting tonight. I stumbled again the other night and that made me realize just how important it was for me to get help. I am going to my regular physician tomorrow to ask for ideas for other ways to help me. Meds or clinic or something else. im not sure what is going to work or what will help me. But after hearing one guy speak it really hit home that I am sick and can not and should not do this alone.

I'm hoping to make my next meeting tomorrow. And hopefully every day after that till I have to leave for work again. And then I hope I can find a meeting in the next place I have to spend some time away from here for work.

Here's to today

Sounds like a good start. You can do it. I talked to my dr, asked some tough/embarrassing questions and it ended up feeling a lot better. Had some tests done that I had been too scared to do and what I found was it was that fear that was one of the reasons I kept drinking/smoking/gettin high. Good luck buddy!

I travel a lot for work too, and I've been to meetings in 23 states and 50 or so cities. The biggest city was LA, the smallest a little town of 2,000 in the blue ridge mountains of Virginia.

AA is everywhere. You can find on your travels. Google is you friend. Of course we're here too.

Good for you.
I'm glad you found the meeting and saw it as a positive in helping you recover and get well.
One thing I liked when I went to meetings was going to different one's in different parts of the country and meeting different people. It showed me that this can happen to anyone and each story was so different.

I think your plan sounds very sensible and I wish you the best xx

Congratulations on your courage, HMS.

I have certainly found the answer to my drinking and living problems in meetings and 12 step recovery literature.
