The gift that is SR.
The gift that is SR.
Hi Everyone,
In the spirit of Christmas, i just wanted to post and say what a gift SR is to everyone actively trying to improve their lives.
The friends and folks i have had to pleasure to interact with here are a VITAL part of my recovery and continued abstaining 100 % from alcohol.
Interaction with people has never been my strong point...That goes back to junior/middle school and it only got 1000 times worse in High School.
I'm slowly learning how to allow others into the world that is my own...and i don't need to feel like i need to have my defenses up.
I've found acceptance in the rooms of AA. But I've also found it here on SR.
I know i wouldn't be staying sober on my own. And for that and for each and everyone of you who make SR the living breathing friendly place it is...
I have a very simple message.
Thank you.

Agreed, SR is really a great tool for me as well.
I am grateful to have been born in the computer age.
Not sure what I would do if born the 1800 hundreds. No AA, no SR, just dry bread, a candle light, and probably a barrel of wine. Yikes! Sorry, feeling silly.

I lurked here for months before registering yesterday. I've found it to be an incredible resource for much needed sober support this early in my sobriety. It especially comes in handy late at night since I'm not really sleeping yet but more so dozing in between crazy dreams and nightmares.
Internet forums are the perfect healing place for me, too.
I tend to open mouth and insert food in real life, so it's good to have a place where at least I have to think a little bit before I speak. It gives me an opportunity to have some relationships that are safe. So much wisdom and openness here, I really appreciate all of you.
Findingtheway, it's so good to see you succeeding. It is difficult when my "friends" are struggling.
