First welcome to SR!

Second you are not a looser, you most likely have an addiction. You are sick, similar then having an illness like cancer. BUT the great news is that addiction is 100% treatable. All it takes is willingness to the addicted to commit to recovery.

So talk to us, seek support from the good folks here.

Janie, It would help if you wrote about what you have tried to do so far. Give folks something to respond to. Believe me, we know how hard it is.

Sigh. Swearing is my first language, but I need help, so I guess I'll deal with it. I am an alcoholic, I am finally seriously acknowledging it, but I'll be back tomorrow when I'm sober and can talk coherently. I'm so sorry. I am a gigantic loser in life, and don't know what else to say. Bye for now.

Welcome to SR. I hope you will stick around: there is a lot of support here.
You are not a loser, you are an alcoholic and the first step is for you to put down the drink. I would suggest consulting with your doctor. Depending on how much you drink, you might be able to just go cold turkey or you might need medical supervision.
As far as the site autocensor go, I am not a bit fan of censorship myself but you need to keep in mind that this is a family friendly site. We have people of all ages and all walks of life (from tough bikers to elderly church ladies). Those are in place so everyone feels comfortable. Someone conservative and needing recovery might feel alienated by foul language and not come back.
Anyway, I hope you will stick around. There is hope!

Hate the addiction not the addicted Janie.
Drinking made me feel a loser too, but I'm really not - neither are you

I have had a few **** myself (when sober). This is a place to feel welcome even if you are under the influence... I think (from previous experience) being told to 'sleep it off' is patronising imho so keep posting tonight if you want to talk with us x

Sorry, I don't buy that you're a big loser. You are still drinking but you have your wits about you enough to realize that you have a problem and to reach out for help. That's HUGE. It's a beginning.

As Carlotta advised, see a physician and be TOTALLY honest about how much you are drinking. Then do exactly what they tell you to do. Alcohol withdrawal is nothing to mess around with. It can hurt you.

All the best to you.
