Hi Lscotty,
Congratulations on making the decision to get sober! I am on day 2 myself after a relapse, but before that I was sober for 6 months. The best advice I have received and relay to you is to come back on to SR anytime you think about drinking. My relapses have occurred when I knew I should post on here instead of buying a bottle but didn't want to listen to the voice of reason. I also go through posts anytime I feel a little upset. The people on here are so supportive and will genuinely help any time you're upset (which for me anyway was a trigger).
Good luck!!

Just keep thinking how nice it will be to wake up in the future and not be hung over. Also, you won't have all those feelings of guilt, shame, and regret that come along with alcoholic drinking night after night. Take a deep breath and focus on feeling better day by day. You can do it!
Hi Lscotty!
So glad you're here! I'm on day three and I'm kind of freaking out too...but I want to tell you that the best thing about being sober for me has been waking up in the morning with NO regrets and NO hangover!
First time in a year and a half that I haven't startled awake in sheer panic over what I did the night before while drunk! That, and waking up in a familiar room, instead of a strangers bed or jail...that's been kinda neat, too.
We don't have to do this alone!

Hi Lscotty,
I, too, am on Day 1 - again! I know, we all know, how hard it is but you got to believe in yourself. I am fighting off cravings of what's the harm in having a couple drinks? I mean that won't do any harm, right? Back and forth, my brain tries to reason, tries to justify this illness. You can do it! We're all pulling for you Lscotty.

I have some kind words;
you are worthwhile, good enough and lovable.
You know it's true, don't you?
I do.
Believing it helps you to do anything that seems insurmountable.
