Day 10 no booze, day 7 no nictotine!
Well I'm happy to report that I survived my first weekend without booze AND nicotine in many many many years!
Backstory: I've been trying to quit drinking for a while now unsuccessfully and decided to switch things up by trying to quit smoking (cold turkey) at the same time. See if it somehow helps me to stay stopped from drinking as well. Maybe my addictions are interlinked in my brain somehow? And continuing to smoke is harming my attempts at trying to quit other addictions? Who knows?? I know every time I quit drinking in the past I start smoking much more to compensate. Anyways.
I gotta say it's been... different. I haven't "craved" or thought about booze ONCE over the last week. Mainly because every time I get stressed or want to "escape" my mind goes straight to nicotine.
I feel like if nothing else, quitting smoking has put an additional barrier up to protect me from relapse if that makes sense. I highly suspect that if I "relapse" it will be on nicotine first. But hopefully nothing at all!!!
Anyways - hope everyone had a great sober weekend and wish y'all another 24!!!!!!! I'll take one too!

Awhile ago I started to suspect smoking was a trigger for drinking for me. I felt or my addicted body felt that alcohol made the cigarette more enjoyable and vice herds. Thx for bringing this up. And congrats on your progress, keep the sober train on the tracks!
Awesome, congratulations. It's a bold undertaking to put both away at once, as the stress caused by the loss of one can lead to medication with the other for some people -- but that you're managing both at once speaks a lot to your strength!
GOOD FOR YOU, keep it up, you don't need either poison. Keep us posted!

I quit smoking and drinking at the same time too...14 days ago. Alcohol and nicotine DO trigger each other...they effect the same pleasure center of the brain. Recent studies show that people are much more successful quitting drinking when they quit smoking at the same time! :-)
Good job! Keep up the great work!
