This coming Thursday I am attending my work holiday party. Every year in the past I have drank at them, sometimes excessively. This year I'm at a new job, and I'm nervous about not drinking at this function. All that my coworkers have been talking about this week is this party and how nice it'll be to just kick back and relax with our free beer and wine... I am pretty shy in large groups, and being a newbie to this job I find myself struggling to fit in. Alcohol has always given me 'liquid courage'. and helped ease the timidness. I know I can't drink, but it's going to be tough. I know I will get questioned as to why I'm not drinking, and I just don't know what to say. Telling my new coworkers I have a drinking problem isn't an option.
