2 months/60 days - Relapse?

This past weekend was the closest I got to having a relapse. The hardest cravings ( other than the first week) and the constant thoughts were really hard to overcome. I did, thank god, and didn't drink - but in catching up on posts I noticed that I wasn't the only one struggling - and with the same sobriety time. Wonder why that is.
I do know that if I didn't
a) treat myself with starbucks, chocolate and chips
b) got some fresh air by taking a walk
c) texting a few aa friends
d) praying to my higher power
e) remind myself that it would SUCK to have to start back at day 1
f) and deal with the anxiety
I would have definitely drank.

Congrats on 60 days and for getting through a tough stretch.

For whatever reason, milestones can be tough...thirty days, 60 days, three months, 180 days.

It's like our addiction wakes from a slumber and tries to catch us off guard. And it often works. We think we have it beat, then BOOM.

Knowing it is common in early recovery can prepare you for the next time.

I am glad to hear you didn't drink. The Holidays are hard, looks like you did a great job with your plan and distractions. Congratulations to you for sticking with it, god knows this is not easy.

I totally understand this Ellay.

I'm at 60 days sober today...And for the MOST part i haven't much challenge with urges etc...With the exception of almost 2 or 3 days about 10 days ago.

I think that was self made anxiety...I was coming up on 54 days sober...Which was a marker where i had failed before and drank.

We can make it past. Some days are more of a challenge. That's where my AA program and Higher Power/Prayer come into play.

I'm still learning as i go here...But i'm doing it SOBER.

Sober i stand a chance.
