Smile 3 Weeks!!

Three weeks no booze today!

I actually slept three nights in a row!

Panic is lessening. Depression is ever present.

I've gone from counting minutes, to hours, to days, soon I'll be counting weeks!

Just like they told me, things are getting better. But every time one thing gets better, a new difficulty pops up. It's like I'm working up the food chain of problems.. first dealing with minnows, then to goldfish.. etc. etc. one day I'm gonna have to face the sharks.

I probably wouldn't have been able to do it if I hadn't found this site.

Thanks

Peace out!

Go Chilly!! So happy 4 U! I've been following u on SR. I'm right behind u 15 days for me. I too am very grateful for this site. I don't want to offend anyone but it has helped me so much more than AA. It may help others but 4 me it made me want to drink. I feel so much more empowered by reading and posting here! Can't wait 4 u to get to 30 days one day at a time.

Thanks mistory and trish!
mistory, you flatter me by saying you've been following me. But I understand why because I'm pretty awesome and hilarious!! lol
I'm looking forward to day 30 with cautious optimism.. In the back of my mind, I still feel like 30 days means I'm not an alcoholic/time to celebrate. (My AV loves the idea of body slamming me on day 31)
My last sobriety stint was in 2009-2011, I was sober for two years and 1 afternoon. Milestones are difficult for me.

Thanks Ya'll!

Yay!! Good for you!
Any tips to overcome the anxiety and panic? It's getting worse for me.

Weird that people are aspiring to be where I'M AT!!

I remember when three weeks was a lifetime away.. Literally feels like day 1 was yesterday.

Well, to the day 1'ers out there, I'll enlighten you with some of my vast three weeks of wisdom;
1. Ice Cream
2. Soda
3. Of course you can't relate to people saying that "It gets better". I hated when people said that. But just focus on the 1 smallest, of the myriad problems you have, and believe that just that 1 thing will get better. When the 1 thing does get better, rinse and repeat.
4. Remember that you always found a way to forgive yourself for what you did the last night, in order to justify drinking the next night. The same thing applies to life whilst sober. You will not forever dwell on your past mistakes and self loathing, because life moves on, and it forces you to focus on the most immediate issues at hand.
5. Get used to not sleeping for a while..
6. Fake it till you make it.
7. Don't listen to me, I'm only 3 weeks in... lol

wow u just gave me something to start being proactive about: milestones! Never thought about it cause I was never able to reach them on my own without being locked away (rehab) that doesn't count to me. Rehab is a jump start to the real living sober life. Anyhow because of what you shared I am going to start thinking of ways to reward myself when I reach a milestone. I think milestones may be hard because we were in a habit of rewarding ourselves with a drink for a job well done. Time to change it up! Thx see what happens when we posts...i hadn't even consider a milestone may trigger me.
