Here I go again

I've been on this forum a few times, but here I am again, drinking like a fish. I had a lot to drink last night and made up an absolutely ridiculous lie to get out of work because I was hung over and super anxious. This has to stop. Like a lot of people on here I get one, maybe two nights of sobriety, then I decide to have a drink or two and get wasted and do something stupid. I need help.

Hi Joey - welcome back

what do you think you need - more support, lifestyle changes - both maybe?

JoeyG, I was on the same roller coaster and can relate to the hangovers and work. We've gone way too far when it starts making us anxious the next day instead, or in addition to, feeling like crap. For me the anxiousness was the worst. Not drinking makes life so much easier. I was hungover everyday for five years with no breaks so you can take my word for it: stopping drinking is not easy but do everything you can to achieve it. Anything. You have to do this to live a happy life. There is no middle ground. Alcohol has to go.

I checked in here everyday for support. For years I tried stopping on my own and, like you said, would only make it a few days. Finally, I just got too sick to continue and used this site as my support.

I used to wonder: why do people go to meetings? Can't they just stop? It's not that complicated. then I wised up and learned to lean on others for support. I couldn't have done it without support. You can too. I haven't had a drink since June.

I've made up the most ridiculous lies for work. Quite creative at times
I need help too, I haven't been able to make it past a few days either, but this is the first time I've really out myself out there, on here, AA, with my friends. It's helping and I feel better, I'm doing way better than I have in years and I've had the worst week ever.
Best wishes and we can do this <3

This madness can stop. You just need to want it badly enough.

You need tools to be able to think things trough next time your Addictive Voice tells you a couple of drinks will be fine. Like posting here on SR before proceeding to drink it a great way.

Hi.
We/I could make up so many stories we start repeating them and…………….
I needed to get honest with myself about my drinking and accept the fact I cannot drink in safety one day at a time in a row. PERIOD.
All the BS reasons we drink for can lead to a place we never want to be, read the posts here for examples, remembering all the dead don’t post anymore.
Hard but factual, alcoholism NEVER improves because it’s progressive but can be arrested IF we don’t drink!
It’s that simple.

BE WELL
