Thank you I would like to introduce myself
My name is Elzbieta, which is Polish for Elizabeth ~ I have been sober for 26 years which makes probably older than most of you. I quit drinking and drugging when I was 30. I've sat through 1000's of hours of AA meetings though I don't go out much anymore.
Wishing all a good evening!

Welcome, it is lovely to meet you. 26 years is wonderful.
I was thinking about long, long term sobriety today, I was thinking that it is a life time commitment and just accept that....still working on that bit..

It was the tea that brought me here
Kindly thank you all for such a warm welcome.
Trying to get off the coke habit (and not for the nose), is ridiculously difficult. I hate water, but coca-cola, very cold.....mmmmm...Did you know that coke will clean a dirty engine? Blood? Disintegrate meat off of a bone?
Not to mention make one very fat.
So I think I found a great solution, Kombucha tea sold in the fancy grocery. You might know it, Synergy? Trace alcohol.
I love it! Low in calories, blessed by hippies, vegan friendly, organic, gluten free, probiotics, all good, yes?
But I keep coming back to wording.....trace alcohol....
So I research...seems that poor girl, Lindsey Lohan, who can't stay sober to save her life, made this drink very popular.
Mayo Clinic dismisses it as garbage ~ paraphrase, but they don't think too much of it either.
My doctor called it "hope in a bottle".
So this is how I landed here. It seems Kombucha is maybe not so good after all. Too much thinking about drinking and after so many years sober comes as a great surprise to me. .
Then somebody here comments that in his/her AA group everyone who drank this beverage ended up with a relapse.
....trace of alcohol......

Very silly these little emoticons. You can say so much.

Welcome, Elzbieta!
My wife and I quit drinking wine two years ago, and got totally hooked on seltzer with lime. We buy it by the case. It is the cheapest, healthiest soda you can find.

I wondered if any other oldsters were about. You don't see too many at AA meetings. I supposed most of us just go on with our lives after awhile.
I am glad in searching though I found this forum. Especially at night when the snoring beasts and insomnia are my companions.
