Hello to sober recovery
Hi,
I just wanted to introduce myself. This is my first visit to Sober Recovery. I am trying to get as much support as I can in my recovery from alcoholism. I have been struggling to stay stopped and had a disasterous relapse last night. It doesn't seem to matter how bad an experience I have with alcohol, I just seem to forget after a couple of weeks and tell myself I may be able to drink safely this time. Of course, I never can. Anyway, here's to another heartfelt bash at sobriety.

Well that's great! For me, it was best to not think too far ahead because I found it overwhelming. For now I would recommend that you focus on what you need to do for the day at hand to not drink that day. Do you have any sort of plan/support?

Yes, I am going to meetings and planning on asking someone to be my sponsor this week. I have always struggled with getting to meetings in the past. My husband works long hours and I can't leave my kids alone as they are too young. I now realise I have to try and put my recovery first.

Bettina, you have reason to be hopeful...you can do it! Have you looked at your drinking patterns? What days of the week and times of day are you most at risk. I had to look at that and have specific plans for those times of vulnerability...especially the first three weeks or so.
Welcome, Bettina, you can do this and be the mother you want to be. Caring for Small children can be very stressful. Can you get a sitter so you can attend your meetings? You'll find a lot of support here. Stay close!
