50 days...and snowballs...
So... 38 years of drinking, 50 days of sobriety.
Thank you, thank you all for the support, crazy humour and experience
it's an interesting ride, this sober living. I'm down with a cold today but I think it's finally some toxins coming out.
I'm managed to work out that I'm depressed - all that talk about a black hole ? I've got one. It's come to light over the past couple of days.
That's fine. I don't know if it is a new thing or a long -standing thing. Can't tell at the moment. I suspect I've been depressed for a while, just blocked it out, because it feels kind of normal and comfortable, like it's part of me.
So I'm off to the docs next week, for some advice - round here they will give me some free counselling, and probably send me to workshop or two.
BTW, my goblin is looking for a snowball fight....

No sign of snow here, Janie. Maybe you could thrash your goblin with wet leaves?

50 days is great. And, good idea to talk with your dr about the depression. If it is a result of drinking, it may clear in a bit more time. But, if it was with you before that, and drinking was self-medicating, then it's possible that medication may help.

Congratulations! As Anna said, getting your depression sorted out will be huge for you. I suffered with depression for years that I masked with alcohol and only finally started addressing it in the months after I quit drinking. The difference, though? Night and day. Not saying I am dancing on the lawn with my dog or sliding on rainbows but once you get that crack of daylight in after all that darkness? Total game changer.
