Kidney infection!

I'm on day 4..I'm now in hospital because of kidney infection and I'm taking antibiotics..and the doctors couldn't tell what is the reason..i should stay here the whole weekend..my ex boyfriend is on a trip with a new girl (we just broke up!) and I'm feeling like crap!
Maybe I'm lucky that I have to stay here and I don't have a choice listening to my *#*@ AV!

Kidney infections are not something to fool with, so it's good that you're in the hospital. And, yes, maybe this is a gift in disguise.

I hope you're not in too much pain. Try to use this time to rest and get well. On the bright side, you'll rack up sober days while you're in the hospital. And it's great that you have access to the forums.

Thank you..and I'm not in pain anymore..they gave me painkiller for the first two days and today I didn't need them.(I really struggled to be honest and say that I don't need painkillers anymore!!!)
But I'm really shocked about the kidney infection..can it be related with alcohol?! I didn't ask doctors!

Hugs- tell the attending physician about your alcohol consumption. I would even tell them about the break up. I've had kidney issues. Once I got sober it eventually went away. It's nothing to be passé about. Get well soon!

There are resources for alcoholics at a hospital. A social worker could help you make a plan for recovery.

To be honest where your at may be the best place for you. Advice tell the doc about everything especially how much you drink and be honest with them truly honest. It is liberating. Good luck and congratulations, here for you.

I work in law enforcement.....trust me honesty is the best policy. Just my advice, yet I am not in Germany so I don't know how it may affect you professionly.

I don't know about Germany. However health is strictly between doctor and patient. I doubt your doctor would feel compelled to call your work. Just think about it. You have the perfect opportunity to discuss it. If you don't get help for this, your job will be in jeopardy. Eventually this disease catches up with us.

It is good that you are in the hospital. Some kidney infections are very stubborn and they need to make sure the antibiotics are working. I agree that you should tell them about your alcohol consumption. Keep up the great work. I hope you get better soon.

Feel better soon. I ended in the hospital with a kidney infection about ten years ago. Being dehydrated is what they told me. Was on intravenous antibiotics for three days.

Talk to your doctor about the alcohol if you are concerned. And once you get out, stay hydrated.
