Almost 2 weeks sober
Almost 2 weeks sober
Hi all It's been a strange couple of weeks, I am learning to deal with my anxiety issues without the use of alcohol or drugs. I have acquired an addictions counselor to hopefully teach me some new coping strategies. My brain feels sharper, I am more alert and my anxiety levels are reduced likely from not binge drinking or doing drugs. I havent been tempted to drink, I know I can't, and I am getting to know my sober self a little better. Sorry if this all sounds egotistical I just needed a place to write how I am feeling. I

Please try to remember that only sheer power only works for so long.
Unless we figure out how to cope with stress, triggers, life, then it can be dangerous to fall back in the trap. Specially when we start feeling like a million dollars, the AV becomes most dangerous at that time.

Awesome job Dharma (like the Kerouac reference too) - the hardest part (IME) is now done. Stay vigilant after I start feeling good has been a challenge for me but it sounds like you have a solid plan in place. Best wishes and thanks for sharing.
Fantastic Dharmabum...
...Almost 2 weeks is great but be aware...this is when the AV (addictive voice) starts chatting us up. My bet is it has probably been pretty quiet so far but dont let it fool you.
About Day 10 - 15 is notorious for relapse. Please becareful and aware of your AV when it starts "whispering".
Lets us know when you're a solid 2 weeks in...and everyday after.
We want to celebrate everyday of your sobriety with you !
Your awesome !
Keep it going.

You do have a good grasp on things now, so keep up the good work and every day will be better than the previous.
Thanks so much guys! you guys are really inspiring . I am going to take your advice to heart I do feel really good, but I know in the past when I felt really good I would go on a binge. I HAVE to not even have one beer that is the key I think. I appreciate all your support

It is my first time in so long getting to 12 days, more or less same time as you, so I can't remember what it was like before. I agree though that the 2 weeks to a month range seems really tough and just reading through the forum it seems so many relapse around 8-20 days. No question that avoiding ALL alcohol, even one sip (and for me that includes alcohol beers too) is the way to go and that we should redouble our efforts for the next 10 days or so. good luck.
