daughter in rehab

my daughter was accepted into a residential rehab house with her two children. ages 2 and 7wks old. after a week there she was told she had to find another place for one of her children due to nys ordinance laws. she is devasted and i now help to take care of her newborn. why would a facility accept her then put her through this? what as her mom can i do to right this situation. it seems like a determent to recovery and against her rights as a mom to be separated from her newborn

I wish I could help you as you are from the place I used to live until I was 43. I wonder if your daughter has seen a mental health professional previous to going into the rehab center? If so, maybe they could intervene for you. I wish you all well.

Maybe someone informed them of that regulation after she was accepted.

It's probably very hard to find a program where a baby could receive the proper care and attention.

How long will she be in rehab? I think a short separation from the baby will do less harm in the long run than being with a mom who isn't sober. This could be the best thing that happened for both of them.

Did some more thinking. Maybe if you contacted someone at Social Services on Westfall?

Hi Milady,

I'm sorry for the situation in your family, but I'm not sure there is anything you can do make this right. I hope your daughter continues to work on her recovery.
