Sunday morning productivity in sobriety

This morning I woke up at 6am and cleaned my entire house. I then sat down and watched some tv with my son. Coming up on 2 years sober, its these types of little things that make me thank God that I am no longer stuck in the vicious cycle of alcoholism. Years ago on a Sunday morning, I would wake up at 9 or 10-if I had to be somewhere-and the day would be filled with pain, nausea, panic, anxiety, and dread that I may have made a total ass of myself the night before. These days I remember exactly what I did the night before, and I can get stuff done. Things that non-alcoholic people take for granted, but for me, it is truly a gift. To those struggling in early sobriety, stick with it; the benefits greatly outweigh the negatives. For drinkers like me, the only place alcohol was going to take me was jail or an early grave.
