Need to change for good

I'm tired of drinking. I'm tired of thinking about alcohol. Why can't I just be normal? Back to giving in to sobriety.

No one is "normal". Sobriety is actually a door to a much better life, I would equate "giving in"' to drinking actually. Things can get better...SR can help too

Hi.
What you posted many can identify with. Some of us are pained enough to do what it takes the first time around. I wasn’t as I was undisciplined and deep inside wanted the benefits by osmosis instead of doing the work involved like changing the characteristics I drank about such as anger, fears, control, insecurity and on and on.
It starts with acceptance that we cannot drink one day at a time in a row, and in safety.

BE WELL

For me I needed to stop fighting against what I wanted to be and accept the reality of who I was!!

I needed to part ways with alcohol on a permanent basis, and life has been looking up ever since!!

What do you mean by normal?

People who discover they have a problem and do something to solve it could not be more normal.

If you keep trying, you'll succeed. Getting sober is hard, but slowly you'll start thinking about alcohol less and less. I still think about it once in a while but I let it sit there and then go on its way. Much better things to spend my time and money on.

Hi Jillian, glad you posted.

I think accepting is a better phrase- giving in sounds like you are losing something, but you will be gaining a better life.

We can give you a lot of support here, post when ever you need help.
