A few basic questions on terms
Unsure about O/T....overtime?
But QUACKING? Just put "Vale' in the search bar and track my every post
since DEC2011..............it's all I do!
(But in earnestness, "quacking" is all the drama that comes out of the addict's
mouth....to one end alone...getting what they want.)

I have terminology questions, too, although mine come from AA discussion rather than abbreviations.
What does it mean that alcoholism is a "family disease"? Clearly a person's alcoholism affects members of his/her family, but does that mean the whole family is sick? It seems to me that any serious illness (cancer, depression) could have impacts for others in the family, but the feeling I get from Al-Anon is that somehow the rest of the family is held responsible for the illness. Am I getting that right? I do understand that children of alcoholics are harmed by a parent's substance abuse, likely having learned coping mechanisms (being efficient and busy; hardworking; caretaking) that might interfere with adult relationships; and likely to seek partners that are 'familiar' (i.e. alcoholics) otherwise, however, I can't see how or why they would be considered diseased.
