Red face A chance..

Hello Everyone..

My name is Alicia.. Today is the 1st day of going cold turkey from drinking.. I'm starting to experience a few withdraws..A heavy binge drinker..During the evening and mostly at night I'll drink until I pass out..
I never thought it was becoming an issue until I noticed myself hiding while I took gulps out of the bottle.. Drinking a pint or more within a couple hours..
I'm irritated and have had terrible tummy problems and sleepy..
I've been a bit scared reading horror stories of withdraws.. I'm scared but I have hope..A hope that I can live and be happy with out alcohol..

Thanks for listening. . Here's to a new start..

Tummy problems yeah... Usually get those after a good night of drinking because of the hang over and then once I start drinking again the troubles go away... Now that you are sober and not getting that first drink in you to right the ship is making you notice them more.

Make sure you keep up your fluid intake. Get some pedialyte it will help hydrate you big time... Eat a few light meals for the next few days, maybe chicken noodle soup so it works double duty and helps hydrate you.

Yoga can help with your stress and anxiety and feelings of unwell. Make sure you get out of your house into the fresh air and dont keep yourself couped up.

Day 1 sucks, but it gets easier and better. Welcome.

Hi and welcome JustAGirl

Congrats on day one.
I hope you'll not suffer too badly - if you feel concerned at all, do seek medical attention - even the ER

Great to meet you Alicia.

Yes, it does sneak up on us. I managed to control it for years, but ended up completely dependent on it. I was drinking every day when I found SR. I'm glad you're taking a look at what it's doing to your life - and taking action.

Welcome and good for you for making the right start, It won't be easy but I've noticed the nice people around here are a good group to hang around when you're feeling tempted.

You made a great decision coming here and sharing honestly!

It's a fantastic start to heading off the inevitable downward spiral that can be so hard to get out of.

Welcome and congratulations!

Welcome Alicia. I was the same type of drinker as you. I became a sneaky drinker in front of others and a full on binger alone at night. It's no way to live. Now is always a good time to quit.
