Didn't get the Job :(

I need a second job because my addiction has me almost ten thousand in debt. I'm 23. Stupid DUI and credit cards!

Anyway, I called to see if a retail store I applied too and had two separate interviews for had reviewed my resume and made a decision. They basically told me my resume is on 'hold' and if they make the decision to hire me they'll call back. I could tell in her tone of voice it was a no. Damnit!

I can't stand being so poor. It's hard and I want to go back to school. I can't if i'm in this much debt. This was my first interview in almost a year so I was very rusty and could of been much more professional to be honest. My interview was also on my 5th day of being sober so my head was still very foggy. I had a hard time answering questions ect...

Anyway i'm on day 8 now and I can tell I'm doing better, however, I'm feeling very frustrated and angry I didn't get the job. I have plenty experience and I look like a model (not to be vain or anything but f*uck). I'm so mad/ disappointed I want to throw a three year old tantrum and cry, pout, hit my hands on the ground, stomp up and down.

I know I just need to try again and there are hundreds of other retail stores hiring. You usually don't get your first job you interview for anyway, just keep swimming I guess...

It can take months these days to find even a second job. I've found a lot of HR depts are posting jobs that management never plans to hire. They're just going through the motions for CYA purposes.

You did get some experience in interviewing and an opportunity to knock the rust off so that when you interview for the job you're going to get, you'll be better prepared. Christmas is coming. Retail should be hiring soon for at least temporary positions. Good luck!!

I'm in construction , its not for everyone but it has perks , I used my job last week to get sober , I stacked up some money and laid up for a few days , for me its real hard to work and detox after a month of getting f'ed up each day , anyways as I expected I got fired . I had a new job by monday , even third class helpers are getting around 14-17 a hour , you don't have to be real skilled , nor is it back breaking if your interested I may be able to point you to a few sites , though word to the wise about 30% of construction workers are users , and another 30% are recovering , I would never recomend a ex meth addict to work in this field

Thanks guys. It's probably too early for a second job anyway. I'll keep looking but recovery comes first.
