Hello everybody!

Hi All,

I hope you all are doing very well on your adventures in life.

I am here because I am tired of drinking beer. That **** tastes like **** and makes me fat and stupid and poor!

Any suggestions for not drinking when you wake up in the morning? I always enjoy a nice beer buzz, but that tall can of beer leads to a 12 pack through the day.

Thanks! All the best,

Burritos.

Welcome, Burritos!

An important first step in my sobriety was having no alcohol in the house. Can you do this?

Welcome Hun xx.

Suggestion on giving up morn drinking was making sure I had help from the doc and made sure I took the tablets then I would go back to bed for a while to change the morning routine. The longer I left that morning drink the more I was able to manage in the morn if that makes any sense?

Sry I'm not the best sometimes in explaining

Good to have u here z

first thing I did was to get rid of anything with alcohol in from the house.
I cannot stress this enough.

Welcome, Burritos. As others have mentioned, dispose of all alcohol in your house. Make and keep your home a safe zone.

Glad you found SR.

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for the welcomes and fantastic ideas!

@ Coldfusion - I can't really have no alcohol in my house, because I currently sleep/live inside of a conversion van. The liquor stores are pretty much my refrigerator!

* One of my biggest sticking points is staying away from $1 beers. Many of the liquor stores sell these. I always think - "It's only $1, why not?!" - Well, here are some great reasons: 1. its carcinogenic 2. its makes me fat 3. it makes me poor and stupid!

@ Dee74 - Logging onto these forums every morning is a great idea. Thank you!

@ Soberwolf - Great link! Very much appreciated. I will spend time reading this.

To everyone else, thank you!

- Burritos

Hi Burritos, definitely change up your routine. As the stores are your refrigerator, stop going to the liquor stores. Where do you park your home? Can you move it somewhere else, further from the shops you tend to go to?
Another idea might be to find a replacement beverage for when you wake up. What about a nice, hot cup of tea or coffee? If you prefer something cold, a ginger ale has a nice bite to it.
Lastly, I have found getting my blood moving helps get my mind off of the morning/early day drinks. Can you go for a run or a brisk walk? Otherwise, do some stretching, jumping, pushups.
The exercise will also help you feel less fat!

Hi all,

@Meraviglioso - Great suggestions! I really like the idea of not going to liquor stores anymore. This is very helpful. I also enjoy the idea of excersing more! That's been on my to do list for too long!

@JanieJ - Thank you!
